Naturerbe: A Nature Guide App for Exploring National Natural Heritage Sites
Naturerbe is a free Android app developed by DBU Naturerbe GmbH that serves as a guide to explore the National Natural Heritage sites. It offers audio tours of the areas with information about the unique landscape and the diverse flora and fauna found there. The app features a map that provides an overview of the many sites, mostly former military facilities that now house rare and endangered species.
The app takes you on a journey through the nature reserves, explaining how a moor is formed, why bats feel at home in former bunkers, and how the carnivorous sundew plant got its name. Currently, the app offers tours of the DBU-Naturerbefläche Prora on Rügen and the Nature Heritage Center RÜGEN, including the exhibition and the treetop walk. Additionally, you can explore areas along the Green Belt of the Heinz Sielmann Foundation. Soon, tours of the DBU-Naturerbefläche Wahner Heide and Königsforst will also be available for download.
